As a Chicago family photographer, it is always such a joy to witness a newborn and sweet older toddler. In-home sessions are so special;  it’s all about capturing your family in your curated, loving space. This beautiful home in Hinsdale was an absolute dream, and it was truly such a magical newborn session.

As every parent knows, toddlers are unpredictable! Their mood can vary between one second and the next, and I understand it can be stressful in a photography setting. My advice to all families with toddlers? Embrace the unexpected, and lean into the chaos. 

I know that’s easier said than done, but keeping your calm and letting them direct is the best way to keep everything moving forward seamlessly. If they want to read or play with blocks, sit down with them on the floor and play! Engage with them and let things flow naturally as they would without the presence of a camera. You’ll end up with a beautiful gallery just like this one, filled with love and connection. 

Being able to capture the essence of big sister Charlotte’s toddlerhood was incredible. Toddlers really have the most active imagination and the most love to give. As a lifestyle photographer and a mother, I love to nurture that. Little baby Auggie was as sweet as any newborn, sleepily curious and happy to be with his new family.
